Frown lines and dynamic lines
What are they?
FROWN LINES are those vertical lines between your eyebrows that occur every time you scowl or look angry at someone.
DYNAMIC LINES are lines and creases on you face that only arise, or significantly worsen, when you move your face in a particular way. Smiling, frowning, raising your eyebrows ... these movements all contribute to the formation of *dynamic lines*.
Doctors in this field differentiate dynamic lines from *static lines*, which is a term we use to describe those lines that arise more from volume loss, sun damage, loss of elasticity, and frank ageing
How are they managed?
It should go without saying that your first strategy is always to prevent skin damage and improve skin health. Sun protection, good diet, avoiding toxins like tobacco and alcohol, and maintaining an equanimous attitude to life all help you prevent and reduce dynamic facial line formation.
In terms of active procedural intervention, anti-wrinkle injections are usually the first treatment undertaken. Occasionally these are supplemented with filler treatment, but filler injections are no substitute for reducing the movement that is causing the line in the first place.
Fillers and anti-wrinkle injections bring about improvement in dynamic lines in mere days, but dynamic lines can also be reduced by treatments that improve skin health, strength and elasticity, thus leading to a general tightening of skin.
